The Te Houtaewa Challenge & Waka Ama
pronounced Te-Ho-Tie-Wa

This annual beach run along 90 Mile Beach in Far North New Zealand, honours the Maori legend of the great athlete Te Houtaewa. 

Now in it's 16th year, the event is held each year in March and attracts competitors from around the world.

  • 60 km Open Ultra Marathon

  • 42 km Marathon Run

  • 21 km Half Marathon Run

  • 21 km Half Marathon Walk
